Our Waterberg area is made up of the Modimolle, Bela-Bela, and Vaalwater areas. Modimolle is located approximately 135km North of Pretoria.

Modimolle, originally named Nylstroom, is situated in the Waterberg region of the Limpopo Province in South Africa. The name Nylstroom comes from when a group of Voortrekkers came upon a hill and river that resembled a pyramid. Believing they had arrived in Egypt, they thought the river was the Nile (Nyl) River and promptly named their settlement Nylstroom (Nile stream). The new name of Modimolle means 'the spirits have eaten' relating to the tradition of the local tribesman offering food to the ancestors. It also boasts the popular Kranskop “holy mountain” known as the “place of Spirits”.

Vaalwater is a small village situated further North of Modimolle. This is the central village located in the majestic Waterberg Mountain Range. The Mokolo River is also nearby. The region is known for its export of grapes and soft fruits, as well as other important products such as peanuts and maize. Vaalwater is seen as a village, a part of the commercially central Modimolle. Some towns just have that feel-good factor - and Vaalwater forms part of Modimolle which is such a town. Even though it has a small population, this village is growing thanks to a variety of games, nature reserves, accommodation, and working farms. The climate is pleasant, with hot summers and moderate winters. The heat in this small town makes the place languid and easygoing. Vaalwater is a good stopover on your way to/from Modimolle in the Waterberg, or on your way up North. Vaalwater is a further 63km north of Modimolle.

Bela-Bela, previously named Warmbaths due to the calming hot springs discovered here by the Tswana approximately 200 years ago, had named them Bela-Bela. Bela-Bela meaning "water which boils on its own" is the town's biggest attraction. Bela-Bela is ideally located off the N1 road between Pretoria (94km) and Polokwane (161km).

Modimolle and Bela-Bela are conveniently situated just off the N1 highway, making access to the larger cities of Pretoria and Polokwane easily accessible.
